Interesting fact
The Risca Union Copper Company was a copper mining company that operated in the early 19th century in Risca, Wales. The company was formed in 1809 and was known for producing high-quality copper ore. The Token 1 Penny coin, which was minted in 1811, was one of the first coins to be produced by the company and features an image of a miner on one side and the company's initials on the other. The coin was used as a form of payment for the company's workers and was also used in local trade. Today, the coin is a rare and valuable collector's item, with some examples selling for thousands of pounds.
