Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during a time when there was a severe shortage of official currency in Victoria, Australia, and many businesses issued their own tokens to fill the gap. The R. Parker token was one such token, issued by an ironmonger (a retailer of iron and other metal goods) named Richard Parker in Geelong, Victoria. Despite being a privately issued token, it was widely accepted in the local community and played an important role in facilitating trade and commerce during this time.
