The first War Memorial to be built using public subscription, the Santon War Memorial, was unveiled in 1920 in memory of six men of the parish of Santon who lost their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918. Made of red sandstone, the structure is of rectangular form and diminishes towards the top and is surmounted by a Celtic cross. The memorial was erected by their fellow parishioners who were justly proud of these brave men.Interesting fact
