The 2002 strike was issued to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the first time a penny had been struck in gold (issue limit: 2,002). The coin was also issued in copper plated steel.© The Royal Mint, 2002
The 2008 strike was released as part of the changeover from the Emblems of Britain to the Royal Shield (issue limit: 2,008), this issue was also released in copper plated steel, silver proof and platinum proof.
