Interesting fact
The 1 Penning coin from Norway, issued during the reign of Harald Hardråde (1067-1093), was made of silver and was considered a valuable currency during its time. In fact, it was so valuable that it was used as a form of payment for the Viking mercenaries who served in the Varangian Guard, an elite unit of the Byzantine Empire's army. The coin's silver content made it a sought-after currency in international trade, and it was often used to purchase luxury goods and other valuable items.
