Sillustani is a pre-Inca archaeological site on the shores of Lake Umayo, near Puno, Peru. It is a funerary site, consisting of tower-shaped tombs known as "chullpas".
Interesting fact
The Chullpas of Sillustani, which are depicted on the coin, are ancient funerary towers built by the Qulla people in the 13th century. These towers were used to bury the noble and wealthy individuals of the society, and they were believed to serve as a bridge between the living and the dead. The Chullpas of Sillustani are now a popular tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
