Interesting fact
The 1 Đồng coin from South Vietnam was designed by artist Nguyễn Văn Thiện, who was a prominent artist and sculptor in Vietnam during the 20th century. Thiện's design features a portrait of Hồ Chí Minh, the former president of North Vietnam, on the obverse (front side), and a depiction of a farmer and a worker on the reverse (back side). The coin's design was meant to symbolize the unity and strength of the Vietnamese people during a time of political and social upheaval in the country.
