Comment

The Hanukkah menorah, also hanukkiah is a nine-branched candelabrum lit during the eight-day holiday of Hanukkah. The Tunisian Jewish community is one of the most ancient of the Diaspora communities. Jewish settlement there may date from as early as the 10th century B.C.E. After Roman conquest in 146 B.C.E., the community was enlarged by Jews from Rome, Judaea and Cyrenaica.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that represents the Tunisian lamp, which is a traditional Hanukkah lamp used by the Jewish community in Tunisia. The lamp is depicted with nine branches, representing the eight days of Hanukkah plus the shamash (helper candle) in the center. This design was chosen to highlight the diversity of Jewish culture and traditions around the world.
