Interesting fact
The 1 Mun (Hun) ND (1857) coin was issued during the reign of King Cheoljong of the Joseon Dynasty, who ruled from 1849 to 1863. The coin features the Korean characters "헌" (Hun) and "일" (Il) on the obverse, which represent the country's name and the denomination, respectively. The reverse side of the coin bears the inscription "조선 거거두" (Joseon Government) in Korean characters. Interestingly, the 1 Mun (Hun) ND (1857) coin was made of brass, which was a common material used for coinage during that time period. However, the use of brass for coins was eventually discontinued in the early 20th century due to its low durability and tendency to corrode easily. Today, the 1 Mun (Hun) ND (1857) coin is considered a rare and valuable collector's item, with some mint conditions selling for thousands of dollars.
