Interesting fact
The 1 Mun (Hun; Chon) ND (1857) coin from Korea was made of brass, which is an alloy of copper and zinc. Brass was a common material used for coins in many parts of the world during the 19th century, as it was durable, resistant to corrosion, and had a nice golden color. However, the use of brass for coins also had its drawbacks, as it was relatively soft and could be easily counterfeited. Despite these challenges, the 1 Mun coin remained a popular denomination in Korea for many years and is still sought after by collectors today.
