Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Mark - Wilhelm II (type 2 - small shield - Pattern) ND (1891-1916) from Germany (1871-1948) made of Aluminium plated zinc is that it was designed by the German engraver and sculptor, Reinhart Schmidt. Schmidt was a prominent artist of his time and his designs were used on many German coins during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The coin features a portrait of Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor, on one side and an eagle on the other. The use of aluminum plating on zinc was also a unique feature for coins at that time, which made it stand out from other coins in circulation.
