The 1 Maravedi coin from Philip III's reign was the first coin to feature the legend "Dios protector" (God protector) on its reverse side, which was a departure from the traditional Catholic motto "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (In this sign, you will conquer) that had been used on previous coins.
