Interesting fact

The 1 Liard coin from Spanish Netherlands (Duchy of Brabant, Belgian States) minted between 1602 and 1605 during the reign of Albert and Isabella features an interesting fact. Despite being made of copper, which is a relatively common metal, the coin was designed with a unique feature - a small hole in the center. This hole was intentionally drilled during the minting process to indicate that the coin had been officially tested and approved for circulation. This feature is known as a "test-hole" and was commonly used in coins of that era to prevent counterfeiting.
