One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Kuna (Pattern; Type 2, aluminium) 1941 from Independent State of Croatia (Yugoslavia) made of Aluminium weighing 1.42g is that it was designed by the Croatian artist, Ivan Meštrović. Meštrović was a renowned sculptor and designer who was commissioned by the Ustaše regime to create the design for the coin. The coin features a stylized image of a kuna, a small mammal native to Croatia, on one side, and the Croatian coat of arms on the other. The coin was never put into circulation, but it is considered a rare and valuable collector's item among numismatists.
