Interesting fact
The 1 Krone coin from the Danish duchies of Schleswig and Holstein, minted during the reign of Christian V (1694-1696), was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a reigning monarch on one side and a landscape on the other. This design was a departure from the traditional coin designs of the time, which typically featured an image of a saint or a coat of arms. The portrait of Christian V on this coin was designed by the artist Johann Salomon Wahl, and it is considered to be one of the earliest examples of a realistic portrait on a coin.
