Zhou dynasty (c. 1046 BC–256 BC). Currency : Mostly spade coins and knife coins during the entire dynasty period. Round coins came around 350 BC.

Coin minted during the reign of Emperor: King Nan of Zhou

The round coin, the precursor of the familiar cash coin, circulated in both the spade and knife money areas in the Zhou period, from around 350 BC.
Coins from the spade money area have a round hole and refer to the jin and liang units.
Those from the knife money area have a square hole and are denominated in hua.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique combination of both Chinese characters and ancient Chinese mythological creatures. On one side, the coin has the character "Hua" (化), which means "transformation" or "change," while on the other side, it features a stylized image of the mythical creature, the "Dao" (道), which represents the way or path of life. This blend of symbolism and mythology makes this coin stand out among other ancient Chinese coins.
