Interesting fact
The 1 Guldengroschen coin from the Duchy of Jülich-Berg, issued during the reign of John III (1513-1515), features an unusual design element - a small hole in the center of the coin. This hole was intentionally drilled into the coin to indicate its authenticity, as it was believed that counterfeiters would not be able to replicate this unique feature. This innovative anti-counterfeiting measure was a pioneering effort in the field of numismatics and coinage.
