Comment
After Edzard Cirksena died of the plague in 1441, his sovereign rights passed to his brother Ulrich, who became the sole ruler of the city of Emden for the next few years and finally chief of the Norderland, Brokmerland and Auricherland.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features two different rulers, Edzard (†1441) and Ulrich Cirksena (1439-1448), on opposite sides. This is a unique design feature that highlights the political structure of the time, where two chieftains ruled East Frisia simultaneously.
