Comment
Day et al. (MEC 12) attribute this earliest type of gold genovino, distinguished by the annulet punctuation obverse, to early 1270s to end of 1280s. They point out several ways it imitates the florin of Florence, including adding some small dots near the arches of the gateway, in an apparnt homage to the Florentine lily.
Mint master symbols lited on p. 270 of dat et al. are given individual date lines.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Genovino coin is that it was minted during the reign of Emperor Frederick III, who was the first emperor to be crowned in Rome since the 12th century. This event marked a significant moment in the history of the Holy Roman Empire and signified the growing power and influence of the city of Genoa.
