Interesting fact

The 1 Escudo coin from Portugal was designed by the artist José Joaquim Teixeira Ribeiro and features a portrait of the Portuguese poet and writer, Luís de Camões, on the obverse side. Camões is considered one of the greatest poets of the Portuguese language and is celebrated for his contributions to Portuguese literature. The reverse side of the coin features the coat of arms of Portugal, which includes a shield with five quinas (a symbol of the five wounds of Christ) and a crown. The coin was minted from 1969 to 1979 and was made of bronze, consisting of 95% copper, 3% tin, and 2% zinc. It weighs 8 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters.
