Interesting fact

The 1 Duit coin from the Spanish Netherlands during the reign of Philip II (1587-1590) was made of copper, but it was also one of the first coins to feature a depiction of a ruler on both sides. The obverse side featured a portrait of Philip II, while the reverse side featured an image of the ruler on horseback. This unique design was a departure from the traditional single-sided coins that were common at the time and showcased the influence of the Renaissance on coin design.
