DUIT
Interesting fact
The 1 Duit coin from the State of Brandenburg-Prussia, minted during the reign of Frederick III (1688-1701), was made of copper, but it was also one of the first coins to feature a depiction of a person of color. The obverse of the coin features an image of a Moorish man, dressed in exotic clothing and holding a sword, symbolizing the multicultural nature of the Brandenburg-Prussian state. This representation of a person of color on a coin was a rare occurrence in European numismatics at the time and highlights the diversity and inclusiveness of the Brandenburg-Prussian society during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
