Interesting fact
The 1 Ducato coin was used as a means of payment for the Venetian army during the War of the Polish Succession in 1733. It was a time of economic hardship for the Republic of Venice, and the government decided to debase the coinage by reducing the silver content of the 1 Ducato from .996 to .8264. This decision was met with resistance from the public, who saw it as a devaluation of their currency. Despite this, the coin remained in circulation until the fall of the Republic of Venice in 1797.
