Interesting fact
The Harz Mining Ducat was a special issue of the Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover Duchy, minted to promote the local mining industry. The coin's design features an image of George II, the ruling Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, on one side, and an image of a miner with a pickaxe and a shield bearing the coat of arms of the Duchy on the other. The coin was minted in gold (.986) and weighs 3.49 grams. It was circulated between 1730 and 1756 and is now considered a rare and valuable collector's item.
