On the 12 June 1771 near the Village of Podmokl under rule of Fürstenberg-Pürglitz the largest ever treasure of celtic gold was found. A caldron with 4211 celtic gold coins with a total weight of 28kg was found. In total with other gold objects found the total gold weight was of roughly 50kg. Of the celtic coins about 1000 ended up with the population, 27 where given to the museum in Vienna and all others where melted down by Karl Egon I. to create 5000 gold ducat coins in 1772.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1772 Charles Egon I Celtic-gold ducat coin from the Principality of Fürstenberg-Pürglitz is that it features a unique blend of classical and Celtic influences in its design. The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Charles Egon I, the ruler of the principality, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and a crescent moon, which are symbols of power and nobility. The reverse of the coin features a stylized Celtic cross, which was a nod to the region's ancient Celtic heritage. This blending of styles reflects the cultural diversity of the German States during this time period and adds to the coin's historical significance and aesthetic appeal.
