Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1635 Gold Ducat from the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg is that it features a unique design element - a small hole in the center of the coin. This hole was intentionally drilled into the coin as a way to test its authenticity. At the time, counterfeiters were known to produce coins with a similar design, but they would not have the same level of detail or quality as the genuine article. By drilling a small hole in the center of the coin, officials could easily identify genuine coins from counterfeit ones. This feature is known as a "Nuremberg Hole" and is a distinct characteristic of this particular coin.
