Comment
Minted in BuchholzInteresting fact
The obverse of the coin features a depiction of Moritz, the ruling elector of Saxony, dressed in elaborate robes and holding a scepter. The reverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the Albertinian Line of the House of Wettin, which was the ruling dynasty of Saxony at the time. The coat of arms features a shield divided into four quarters, each bearing a different symbol, including a lion, a griffin, a bull, and a bird. This design was used on many coins issued during Moritz's reign and is a distinctive feature of this particular coin.
