The 1 Doppia coin from the Papal States, minted between 1786 and 1793, features an image of Pope Pius VI on one side and the Papal coat of arms on the other. It was made of .917 gold and weighed 5.47 grams. Despite not having a stated value, this coin was widely used as a medium of exchange during its time. Interestingly, the coin's design was created by the famous Italian engraver and artist, Giovanni Battista Guttuso.
