The $1 gold brilliant uncirculated coin is the smallest gold coin issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and is the 7th release of this series. A 2010 issue from the Third Lunar series, the Year of the Tiger coins were released in various denominations, minted in gold, silver and copper-nickel. The image of the tiger was designed by Mr Xu Yunfei of the Shanghai Mint and is integrated with ancient Chinese seal characters of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, which symbolizes the animal’s characteristics. The design also incorporates a peony, which symbolizes blessing.This tiny coin was sold in a presentation card with tigers artistry on one side and the specifications on the other. The card is bundled with a gold colour envelope. MAS issued a media release on the 18th November 2009 about the launch of the tiger series. These coin cards were released for sale on the 1st January 2010 with an issue price of S$55.00.
