The obverse image is remarkably similar to an image of Nolan Ryan which appeared on a 1991 Fleer baseball card. The designer of the coin John R. Deecken denied that there was any connection. But as seen below even the wrinkles in Ryans jersey match the picture in the card. Buy a good copy of the card and keep it in the mint box.
It makes a good conversation piece and couldn't hurt the value of the coin.
Notably, the Denver Mint coin features edge lettering. “XXV Olympiad” is written four times around the edge against a reeded background. This is the first time edge lettering had been used for a commemorative coin issue of the United States.
Interesting fact
The 1992 XXV Olympiad $1 Silver Coin from the United States features a unique design that showcases the Olympic Games. The obverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the Olympic torch, while the reverse side features a stylized image of an athlete in motion, surrounded by the words "XXV Olympiad" and "Los Angeles 1984." This coin is particularly interesting because it was produced in a limited quantity and was not released into circulation, making it a sought-after collector's item among coin enthusiasts and Olympic memorabilia collectors.
