The maximum authorized mintage for the 1988 Seoul Olympics Silver Dollar was 10 million pieces. The final mintage did not come close to reaching this amount, with a final tally of around 1.55 million. The 1988 Seoul Olympiad $1 coin is a non-circulating commemorative coin issued by the United States to celebrate the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea. One interesting fact about this coin is that it was designed by sculptor and engraver, Frank Gasparro, who was also the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at the time. The coin features a depiction of an Olympic athlete in motion on the obverse (front side), and the Seoul Olympic logo on the reverse (back side). The coin was minted in a limited quantity of 30,100 pieces and is considered a rare and valuable collector's item among numismatists.
