This is the third design in the Caribbean silver series which has included the seahorse, pelican and now the octopus. Each year a new design has been minted.
Interesting fact
The Octopus coin from Barbados features a unique design that showcases an octopus wrapping its tentacles around the edge of the coin, giving the appearance that it's climbing out of the water. This design was created by the coin's designer, P.J. Lynch, who wanted to highlight the island's rich marine life and create a visually striking image.
