Comment

The Presidential Dollar proved to be unpopular amongst the American public and are today rarely seen in everyday commerce. However, they are frequently used in Ecuador and El Salvador, two nations that have adopted the United States dollar.

Interesting fact

The interesting fact about the John Tyler dollar coin is that it was the first coin in the Presidential $1 Coin Program to feature a former president who was not born in the United States. John Tyler was born in Charles City County, Virginia, in 1790, but he later moved to Kentucky, where he served as a member of the state legislature and eventually became the state's governor. He was elected as the 10th President of the United States in 1841 and served until 1845. The coin was released in 2009 as part of the Presidential $1 Coin Program, which aimed to honor each U.S. president with a unique coin design.
