Reverse
An engraved representation of an early pencil sketch of the 1939 silver dollar designed by artist Emanuel Hahn (1881-1957). Marked by the paper fold lines of the original sketch residing in the National Currency Collection of the Bank of Canada, the reverse design is a partially completed depiction of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa, along with perspective lines and other preliminary graphic elements hand-drawn by the artist, including the Roman-style lettering for the Latin legend “FIDE SVORVM REGNAT” (“He reigns by the faith of his people”).

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that was originally created by Emanuel Hahn, a renowned Canadian artist and sculptor, in the 1930s. The design depicts a stunning representation of the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa, and it was meant to be used on a Canadian coin in the 1930s. However, due to various reasons, the design was never used until 2024, when it was finally featured on this non-circulating coin to commemorate the reign of King George VI. This coin is a beautiful tribute to both the artist's work and Canada's rich history.
