Coin struck by the RAM but issued jointly by Australia Post as change into circulation from 3500 Post Offices Australia wide. The coin is part of a ten coin series of "Aussie Big Things". These "Big Things" are large constructed Tourist Attractions usually related to the area they are located in. Aussie Big Things is a celebration of the great Australian road trip. And with more than 200 of these massive landmarks scattered across the country, tourists and locals are propelled to ‘tick off’ the Big Things as they drive throughout Australia.
This coin depicts "The Big Pineapple", standing tall at 16m high, the Big Pineapple has attracted millions of visitors over the decades to its Woombye home in the Sunshine Coast. This Queensland icon is now heritage listed, celebrating the sweet, tropical fruit the state is known for producing.
As well as being issued individually into circulation you could buy a "Press in Album" for the full set of 10 coins contained in a special tube including the album for $29. One in ten of the Tubed Set has an exclusive Coloured version of the "Giant Murray Cod" coin.
