The”MOSAIC EGG” was created in 1914 as the Easter gift of Tsar Nicholas II for his wife, Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. The egg is considered one of the most beautiful and original masterpieces created for the Imperial Court at the House of Fabergé. The jewel-studded surface of the egg resembles a stained glass. The surprise hidden inside it is a miniature medallion surmounted with a crown, featuring the profiles of Nicholas and Alexandra’s five children.
