Comment
It all began at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, when a dollar was buried under the ice in the center of the rink. That year, Canada's men's and women's field hockey teams both won gold medals. Thus was born the legend of the lucky dollar, which has been bringing its magical touch to Olympic rinks ever since. Since 2004, the Mint has minted the Lucky Dollar to cheer on Canada at every Winter and Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2016 design has been renewed and features a new element: the engraved words "LUCKY LOONIE / DOLLAR PORTE-BONHEUR", the coin's popular nickname.Support Canada's Olympic and Paralympic teams and express your national pride with this very special 99.99% pure silver coin adorned with the full-color logos of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic teams.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case featuring the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with a black protective box.
