HMS Warrior, nicknamed "The Black Snake", was the Royal Navy's first ironclad battleship launched in 1860. She was built in response to the 1859 launch of the French battleship Gloire. Her name is also that of a class of ships that includes just one other unit: the Black Prince. She is now a museum ship and can be visited in Portsmouth (UK). One interesting fact about the coin is that the HMS Warrior, which is featured on the coin, was a British ironclad warship that was launched in 1860 and was the first warship to be built with an iron hull, armor, and guns. It was a significant technological advancement in naval warfare and played a key role in the British Navy's dominance of the seas during the late 19th century.
