Fine silver incised divisional coin set - Maple leaf - Edition: 9,999 (2015)The sugar maple, such a strong, resilient and generous tree, has long been a symbol of Canada. Growing in the wild forests of northeastern Canada, Acer saccharum has much to offer in every season, whether it's the shade created by its broad leaves in summer, the vivid red, purple and orange hues orchestrated by its enchanting foliage in autumn, or its delicious sap in spring. Canadians have always made the maple leaf their emblem. Since 1964, this symbol has held a place of honor at the center of the Canadian flag.
The five coins in the set feature a sugar maple leaf encircled by a decorative scroll on a frosted field. On this fine incuse silver coin, the maple leaf is debossed using an ingenious technique perfected by the Royal Canadian Mint's engravers. The one-ounce coin is enhanced by a rich touch of translucent red enamel that fills in the recessed leaf.
