The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to present the 2015 Special Edition Canadian Silver Dollar Coin Set. This is the first time the Mint has offered two numismatic proof sets, each featuring a different design on the dollar. These are also the only sets to offer both the commemorative silver dollar with selective coloring and the gold-plated dollar featuring the loon. The elegant presentation in genuine leather booklet form, with removable insert, suits these choice coins admirably. The set is available in a limited edition worldwide. The red and white flag is the symbol that best represents Canada. Whether we're at home or abroad, the red maple leaf unites us regardless of our culture, language or beliefs. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Canada's national flag, the Royal Canadian Mint pays tribute to the maple leaf on its annual Fine Silver Proof Dollar.

Did you know that?
- The adoption of Canada's national flag was proposed long ago, at the end of the 19th century, but to no avail. It wasn't until Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson relaunched the idea in 1964.
- After a long and heated debate, Parliament adopted the national flag of Canada in 1964. At the stroke of noon on Parliament Hill on February 15, 1965, the Canadian Red Ensign (formerly the flag of Canada) was lowered and replaced by the flag we know today.
- According to the official description, the national flag is red, with a white square at its center, adorned with a red maple leaf.
- The pattern is symmetrical, so that if the flag is folded in half vertically, the two halves are identical!
- The maple leaf has long been a symbol of Canada, although red and white have been present on the country's coat of arms since it was proclaimed by King George V in 1921. According to the official rules for flying the Canadian flag, it must never touch the ground.
