This 2021 addition to the Australian Emu coin series, is the fourth in series, and portrays a mother and baby Emu in an outback landscape. Struck from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the reverse includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN EMU, together with the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.

The Emu is an iconic Australian bird which stands up to 1.9 metres in height, on long powerful legs, which can propel it to speeds of nearly 50 kilometres an hour. The Emu appears on Australia’s coat of arms along with the Kangaroo – reputed to have been chosen because neither willingly takes a backwards step.

The Perth Mint also issued this coin in a colour version for the 2021 ANDA Melbourne Money Expo.
