Reverse

Te Hau Raki is the warm wind that blows from the north, from Te Hiku o Te Ika (The Tail of the Fish). It follows the tail to the end, to Te Reinga, to where two seas meet and marks the pathway of the spirits to Hawaiki—the spiritual homeland of Māori. The two colours represent the two seas.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that combines traditional Maori motifs with modern technology. The coin's reverse side features a pad-printed design that depicts a stylized representation of the four seasons, with each season represented by a different Maori symbol. The symbols are arranged in a spiral pattern that radiates out from the center of the coin, creating a sense of movement and dynamism. This design not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of New Zealand's indigenous people but also highlights the country's commitment to innovation and progress.
