Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1990 New Zealand Silver Proof 1 Dollar coin featuring Elizabeth II (3rd Portrait; Treaty of Waitangi) is that it was minted to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is considered the founding document of New Zealand as a nation. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on February 6, 1840, by representatives of the British Crown and various Māori chiefs, and it established a British governor and government in New Zealand while also recognizing the rights of the Māori people to their land and culture. The coin's design features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a depiction of the Treaty of Waitangi on the other, with the inscription "Treaty of Waitangi 1840-1990" above the treaty image. This coin is a unique and meaningful way to honor the history and culture of New Zealand, and it is a sought-after collector's item for coin enthusiasts.
