Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it was the first Canadian coin to feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that was not based on a British design. The coin's designer, Dora de Pédery-Hunt, created a unique portrait of the Queen specifically for this coin, which was a departure from the traditional British designs that had been used on Canadian coins up until that point. This coin also has a distinctive bronze plating that sets it apart from other coins in the series.
