Singapore gets its name from the Sanskrit word 'Singa' meaning Lion & 'Pura' meaning City.
The Singapore Mint also issued out a souvenir pack for exclusive sale at the 1988 Singapore Coin Expo. This red-colour pack consisted of an uncirculated $1 Bird-series banknote and an uncirculated 1984 Lion-series dollar coin. Each pack was issued with its own unique serial number.
