Comment
Junagath (Junagath presidency on obverse) and Surat (government of Surat on reverse) are cities in the present state Gujarat, Surat lies about 200 km. east of Junagath in a direct line (over 400 km. over land).
Left of the date there is a disconnected ‘स’ (s) attached to the circle, that looks like ‘रव’ (rv). On the KM#45 variety below however, there is an ‘स’ left of the date and separate from the circle. An ‘s’ might refer to ‘Saura varṣa’, meaning solar year in gujarati, further investigation is required.
Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted in 1964, but it bears the date 1907, which is the year of the death of Rasul Muhammad Khan, the ruler of the Princely state of Junagadh, who was also known as the "Nawab of Junagadh". This coin was minted as a tribute to him, and it features his image on one side and the symbol of the Princely state of Junagadh on the other.
