Comment
This coin, issued by Rao Shri Khengarji II, S/O Bharmalji, during his reign from AD 1645 - 1654 (VS 1702 - 1711) is modelled after the coins of Sultan Mahmud Shah bin Latif Shah of Gujarat Sultanate (India - Islamic), a practice found to be followed by his successors as well.1 Dokdo issued by his successors, Pragmalji I (KM#39), Desalji I (KM#49) and Raydhanji (C#26) listed in Numista appear identical to this coin except for the name of the respective ruler on the reverse.
Interesting fact
The 1 Dokdo coin from the Princely state of Kutch is interesting because it features a unique blend of Indian and Islamic influences in its design. The coin's obverse side features a depiction of Khengarji II, the ruler of Kutch during the time the coin was minted, while the reverse side features a stylized representation of a mosque, reflecting the Islamic faith of the ruling family. This blend of cultural influences is a testament to the diverse and multicultural nature of the Indian princely states during that time period.
