Interesting fact
The Idrisid dynasty, which issued this coin, was a Muslim dynasty that ruled over the western Maghreb region (present-day Morocco) from 788 to 985 AD. The dynasty was named after its founder, Idris I, who was a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad and was recognized as a legitimate ruler by the Abbasid Caliphate in Baghdad. The Idrisids were known for their efforts to spread Islam and their support for the arts and sciences. They established several cities, including Fez, which became an important center of learning and culture.
