This coin belongs to the 2012 1 Diner Series dedicated to the "Popes of the 20th Century".
Leo XIII: He was the first pope of the 20th century. His pontificate lasted from 1878 to 1903. Promoter of Catholicism in many European countries, he is credited with ending the Chaldean and Armenian schisms in 1879. He was the author of the famous encyclical 'Rerum novarum', considered the first great encyclical for his defense of the rights of the working class. This and the other almost 50 that he published throughout his pontificate gave him the title of 'Pope of encyclicals'.
