The Roosevelt Dime, first introduced in 1946, was originally designed to commemorate President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who led the country through the Great Depression and World War II. The coin features Roosevelt's portrait on the obverse (front) side, and an image of a torch, olive branch, and oak branch on the reverse (back) side, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Interestingly, the Roosevelt Dime was the first coin to feature a U.S. President, and it has been produced continuously ever since its introduction, with the exception of 1975 and 1976, when a special Bicentennial design was minted.
